The man and his son sought the help of a specialized sound engineer to build the special fretboard.
A man built a microtonal guitar with a colorful lego fretboard all because two years before his son Atlas had decided to build a lego fretboard. Inspired by his son’s dedication, he searched all over YouTube to find instructions on how to proceed.
They then noticed something interesting. All playable lego guitars on YouTube did not have fretboard’s made of lego (instead they were of wood). He, therefore, sought the help of a sound engineering student to create an actual lego fretboard.
First, they designed and 3D printed a lego fretboard plate with many bumps. They designed it so that lego pieces could easily be put in. They also measured the locations of the standard guitar frets and put some bumps for microtones in between these frets.
But all this was just the beginning. The rest of the process gets a lot more interesting and complex. We won’t share it with you here. You have to watch the video for that.
