Angine de Poitrine (Photo: Constantin Monfilliette)
Many (including this author) have recently had their social media feeds flooded algorithmically with videos, performances and memes related to Angine de Poitrine — a mysterious polka-dotted and costumed Canadian duo playing relentlessly experimental microtonal music.
The band’s captivating presentation is the sort you can’t look away from, transfixed as much as you are confused at the images and sounds emanating from the Instagram feed or YouTube page.
Riding a particularly strong wave of viral attention in recent months, as well as the April 2026 release of Vol. 2 (the duo’s second album), Angine de Poitrine are out on the road right now on a sold-out tour.
But that buzz has also sparked the band to extend said tour, with more shows pushing the tour into late 2026, alongside previously announced dates, festival appearances and a show in Toronto with Jack White.

A key aspect of the magnetism of this musical duo is the mysterious nature of the musicians — we still don’t know who they are, officially — and the alternating white-on-black color-coded schemes of their outfits. Those characteristics, coupled with the band’s math-rock-meets-prog-meets-catchy-melodies, have helped pave the way for this global breakthrough.
A breakthrough, it must be noted, has prompted a nearly endless stream of reaction videos on YouTube such as this one from popular online music personality Rick Beato:
The hype train has left the station and is barreling down the tracks, unencumbered by (and, rather, powered through) the unassailable support of the algorithms.
