Long Branch will celebrate music, dance, food, and art from cultures around the world during its inaugural Culture Around the Corner, a three-day festival presented by Monmouth Arts and sponsored by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority.
The weekend will feature live performances ranging from salsa and Greek folk dance to Afro-Brazilian capoeira, jazz, reggae, and Indian classical dance. Visitors can also enjoy global food, local artisans, hands-on art activities and family-friendly programming.
Performers will include Jersey shore rapper and poet Chris Rockwell, Kuf Knotz & Christine Elise, the Hellenic Dancers of New Jersey, Mary Cross, Ocean Avenue Stompers and more.
Festivities kick off Friday, October 2, at Slocum Park and the Long Branch Free Public Library. Saturday’s main festival takes over the ArtYard and the Union Avenue Municipal Lot with two stages, an artisan market and Kid Zone, before the weekend concludes Sunday, October 4 with a Folklife Village at Whitechapel Projects.
Admission is free.
